    Project Pitchfork

Project Pitchfork have deservedly established themselves as
one of Europe’s most prominant forces in the industrial scene.
However, to simply label the band as industrial fails to do
their music justice, as they have a strong ethereal Gothic side
to them as well, as is strongly evidenced by their two Aurora
side projects, and a keen lyrical sense of social justice.

Their first album, Dhyani, appeared in 1991, blending
industrial strength beats with Teutonic, Mozart-laced rhythms,
and the courage to address such topics as animal research and
social revolution. Although subsequent releases did not contain
the lyrical strength of their debut, the musical growth inherent
in 1992’s Lam-’bras and Entities was phenomenal. Their
music now embraced not just Teutonic rhythms and
electroindustrial beats, but now contained synthetic
orchestrations, classical rock progressions and lush keyboard
gothic beauty. IO, the band’s first release on Metropolis
Records, continued this musical growth, with elements borrowed
from classical Baroque and the electronic wizardry of Klaus
Schulze thrown into their ever-expanding mix. This work was
described by the Alternative Press as being “wondrous, majestic,
    beautiful, haunting, everything.”

In 1998, Metropolis Records arranged to release the two full
length CDs that had emerged since IO; Alpha Omega,
and Chakra Red. Along with the two back-catalogue
releases, the Eon:Eon full-length and the Steelrose
    single were released.

In 2001, Project Pitchfork released Daimonion. Several
distinct influences could be heralded within the album; guitars
and synths play among the climatically close cluster of sounds
while beats in all forms penetrate the clear melodies. Retaining
their muse of inspiration, Daimonion states and
criticizes situations that one faces to tell the story of
    present day life.

The Nun Trilogy came next. The first part of the
trilogy was 2002’s album, Inferno, in which the band
re-invented itself as a more accessible electronic industrial
rock band. The final two pieces of the trilogy (released in
2003) were the View From a Throne and Trialog EPs.
All three releases consume the topic of “Nun” which is based on
the insight that the essence of the individual is to be found in
a state of perpetual eternity, an eternal now. Inferno, View
    From a Throne
, and Trialog enlighten us to the
realization that we will never live in the past or future, but
we will always be in the present, which is what makes the “Nun”
    trilogy so timeless.

Project Pitchfork has a long history of exceptional releases
dating back nearly a decade. With each release, they never fail
to please and this was solidified in 2004 when Project Pitchfork
released their long awaited first ever live DVD entitled Live
    2003
. The DVD documents the energetic impressiveness that
    has become Project Pitchfork’s trademark.

The band is back in the saddle following up their 2002 album
Inferno with Kaskade for 2005. A myriad of topics
run through the album, all for the listener to explore and make
their own interpretation. Kaskade is a flowing piece of
musical artistry that does not conform to one style, but
embraces everything from rock to industrial to electronic.
Project Pitchfork has created a masterpiece that will leave you
    wanting more.

    Front Line Assembly

    Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008 77 views

    Front Line Assembly

Front Line Assembly is the primary focus of Vancouver-based
musician Bill Leeb. A founding member of Skinny Puppy, Leeb moved on
to form FLA in 1986 with Michael Balch, releasing some cassettes
(since released as Total Terror I & II) which paved the way
for their 1987 releases: The Initial Command, State of Mind,
and Corrosion. In late 1988, they recorded the mini-LP
    Disorder
, since combined with Corrosion and released as
Corroded Disorder. Their 1989 release, Gashed Senses and
    Crossfire
, further cemented their popularity in the industrial
scene, and prompted their first world tour. By 1990, Balch had
departed and Rhys Fulber rounded out the duo, releasing Caustic
    Grip
. But it was two years later when the duo released what for
many has become the genre’s crowning moment, the classic album
    Tactical Neural Implant
, which to this day still defines the
    best of industrial music.

FLA enraged many of their fans in 1994 when they began to
experiment with their established electronic-only sound.
    Millenium
, with its heavy doses of live and sampled metal
guitars, dared its audience to grow and expand with the band beyond
industrial’s perceived barriers. Front Line stepped to the firing
line again in 1995 with Hard Wired, which reflected both a
return to form and a continued embracing of the guitar. Hard
    Wired
not only picked up where Implant left off, it
improved on the sound by adding in elements of all of their side
projects. A fall European tour was recorded for the 1996 release
    Live Wired
, their first concert CD ever. Also in 1996, Front
Line Assembly followed up Hard Wired with two CD singles,
“Circuitry” and “Plasticity”, and toured North America with Numb and
    Die Krupps.

1997 saw the first realignment of Front Line Assembly since 1990,
with the departure of Rhys Fulber and the addition of Chris Peterson
to the ranks. Front Line’s 1998 album, FLAvor of the Weak,
featured the band’s first flirtation with electronica. Re-Wind,
a twin CD of remixes, followed later that year. The duo then
released Implode in 1999, and Epitaph in 2001.
    Epitaph
exhibited building intros, trancy synth lines, pulsing
beats, and solid melodies, which proved to be contagious anthems for
a new future of industrial music.

After the 2001 release of Epitaph, another changing of the
FLA “guard” occurred: Chris Peterson left, and original member, Rhys
Fulber (Fear Factory, Conjour One) returned. The newly charged Front
Line Assembly returned in late 2003 after a two year hiatus to
deliver the highly anticipated Maniacal single. With Rhys
Fulber joining forces once again with Bill Leeb Front Line Assembly
is set to deliver a straight up industrial rebellion to the
future-pop ruled world of electronic music. The successful single
laid the ground work for a brand new FLA album and era in industrial
music. Following up on Civilization, the duo released the
    Vanished
EP which features three unreleased tracks. They say
time can weather all things, but it has left FLA unscathed. They
have remained an influential force in music, and continue to put
excitement and adrenaline into industrial music.

Bill’s work can also be heard on a wide number of side projects,
including Noise Unit, Delerium, InterMix, Cyberaktif, Equinox, and
Synaesthesia. Bill has also contributed music to the popular video
game, Quake 3 - The Arena.

    combichrist

    Tuesday, April 1st, 2008 1 views

Summer 2003: Icon of Coil frontman Andy LaPlegua brought you his new electro/industrial project called CombiChrist . The first release, on Out Of Line Records, The Joy Of Gunz presented a very hard edged EBM/industrial sound. Pummeling dancefloor grooves and distorted beats combined with scathing vocals and electro arrangements produced a full-tilt dancefloor onslaught. The first offspring of Norway’s Andy LaPlegua sounded very different, but the album is a must for all lovers of the harsher, more noisy and danceable stuff.

Fall 2003: Saw the release of the Halloween special “Kiss The Blade“, lmtd to 667 copies and sold out within a few days. This was the first step towards the shape of Combichrist to come.

The enormous response took Combichrist to the live stage.Combichrist did shows in Germany, the Netherlands, UK, Spain, Italy and USA and such festivals as; WGT, Summer Darkness and Infest. Combichrist then became known for being a strong live act, full of energy, blood, and a rock’n roll attitude. The world was calling for more as the Combichrist fanbase grew to the size of an army: thus spawning the Combichrist Army.

Fall 2004: Combichrist took you to new dimensions with the EP-release; “Sex, Drogen Und Industrial“, topping the German Alternative Charts at number 1 for 7 weeks. Previously, the name stood synonymous for electronic industrial sounds in their most brutal incarnation. Whereas Sex, Drogen und Industrial at first continues on this path with the opening track, Blut Royale, the listener soon begins to grasp as to where LaPlegua will take him on his journey: more electro, less distortion, yet nonetheless energetic and aggressive. Track two, programmatically titled Tractor tramples you with thudding electronic sounds and it is hard to find a proper category for this energetic wave of mutilation. The best term for this new form of pure, unrestricted musical energy would be Techno-Body-Music, as it combines the straight rhythmicality of Techno with the brute force of EBM. While provocative samples and aggressive sounds remain an integral part of the Combichrist-universe, the wind blows in the direction of pure electronic madness. Sex, Drogen und Industrial is a musical inferno that is shaking and rocking all club floors. Listening to the tracks, one is almost able to smell the sweat of twitching bodies. This EP wets the appetite for things to come and LaPlegua proves that he is able to create something that is ground breaking with Combichrist He takes no prisoners and no one can escape what remains are the remnants of musical destruction and exhausted corpses scattering the dancefloor.

Blut Royale and Tractor was also released on lmtd white vinyl, on Bractune Records in the USA.

Spring 2005:Everybody Hates You” the new full-length album, released not only by Out Of Line, but USA’s Metropolis Records as well. Release February 28th 2005. This new hard-hitting album took the fans in a new direction: TBM: A journey through hell and high water, through the eyes of a serial killer, sex, violence and plenty of Jack Daniels on ice.

Dance-floor domination is in effect with hits such as: “Without Emotions”, “This Is My Rifle*” and “This Shit Will Fuck You Up*“.

Summer 2006:Get Your Body Beat EP
Released June 2nd 2006 on Out Of Line and 06.06.06 on Metropolis Records, peaked as nr.5 on the Billboard Dance Charts for 6 weeks, nr.1 on the German Alternative Charts, south American alternative charts and still keeps rocking the charts around the world.

Next to Come: NEW ALBUM 2007
The new album “What The F%&$ Is Wrong With You People” will be released early 2007 on Out Of Line/Metropolis Records.
