Two Tips to Set Yourself Apart at Halloween This Year
By Mike Edward

Halloween is all about fun and there’s nothing more fun than showing a little character and originality. Sticking out in the crowd is what it’s all about and the best way to do that is to show up to the festivities in a unique Halloween costume.

If you want to show some originality, avoid your local department stores and Halloween shops. These joints are carrying middle-of-the road stuff. It’s the same gear every year and there’s nothing unique about white face paint and a set of uncomfortable plastic fangs (the fake blood tastes lousy, too).

If you want to do something different, you need to look somewhere different.

  • One of the best ways to find a unique Halloween costume is too look online. There are a variety of different Halloween costume vendors on the net, and that multiplies the number of options available to you. While everyone else in your town is buying from the same place and choosing from the same stale collection of stuff, you can find something wild, different and interesting.

  • Another good way to come up with a unique Halloween costume is to mix and match a little bit. A zombie? Not so unique. A doctor? Pretty boring. What about a zombie doctor toting creepy over sized metal “surgical implements”? Terrifying. Going as the wolf man is nothing new, but showing up as a wolf girl cheerleader, complete with the pleated skirt and pom-poms will make an impact.
  • Take a big look at all of the different stuff that’s out there for putting together a unique Halloween costume and exercise your creative muscles a little bit at the same time. In the end, you’ll be able to escape the drudgery of showing up in a tired costume. You can finally be the one who really stands out this Halloween!

Safety Tips For Creating Halloween Props and Using Halloween Decorations

Safety Tips For Creating Halloween Props and Using Halloween Decorations
    By Daryl Plaza

Most people are not aware of the fact that there are dangers of Halloween props. When it comes to trying out your decoration skills and expressing your creativity, Halloween is a great holiday! Many individuals work all year to accumulate props and develop creative ideas on how to design their home, their lawn, and other areas like their sheds for Halloween.

Unfortunately, in most cases, these individuals fail to consider the fact that there can be true dangers associated with the items that they use to decorate with. Here, I will share with you some of the most common dangers of Halloween props when used during this fall holiday.

One of the most common Halloween props is the implementation of “spider webs” in the area that one wants to attract fear. There are web products that are sold in decoration stores as well as department stores that are composed of string, rope, and even wire. Many accidents occur each year when this type of product is placed low enough to catch someone’s foot, or even high enough for the individual to actually run into.

While this type of prop may only leave some minor cuts, scrapes, or bruising, it is all uncomfortable. If falls are experienced, it may result in serious injury. If you are going to put up this type of webbing, set it in an area away from where people will frequent.

The next type of Halloween prop that is relatively common are dark lights, colored lights, and even black lights. At first glance, these appear to be completely safe and innocent types of lighting, but if you use them as the only source of lighting, the area may be so dark that it drastically reduces visibility.

When this occurs, someone may run into something that could harm them, or even fall and experience a number of injuries. If you plan on using this type of lighting, it may be good to use some small powered lights, such as battery operated lanterns that can be included as part of the festive decorations in order to improve visibility.

As you can see, there are a number of dangers that can be associated with Halloween props. While I have only listed a couple of examples here, they are real examples that will get your mind focused on determining the best method of decorating with props this Halloween. Remember to “think outside the box” when it comes to potential dangers while using Halloween props so that you and your guests can enjoy a safe evening this year!
