What’s new for Darkfaery Subculture Magazine ending 2009?

There are only five months left in this year. Holy cow!
It’s been a crazy year for us; we started out the year with an Underworld 2
movie release party with Moroch entertainment and Sony pictures. We saw a unique
blend of Metal VS Vinyl. We went to a pirate ball at Scarlet Fest and got
sunburned at the medieval fair. Some of us got mostly naked at the Carnality
Ball, and we got a little too drunk at the Assimilation Anniversary Ball. At
SoonerCon we shared a booth with Moroch Entertainment, Columbia Pictures, and
Jackson Compton-also secretly with Steve Wedel and Christophe, because their
stuff seemed hidden. Frankenberry made an appearance at our booth, bringing
smiles and lots of people with cameras.  We
sold a lot of merchandise for once instead of selling some and buying more. That
was way cool. Then we got crazy at SinnerCon with a lot of other cool people who
seem to be at every event we sponsor. Strange, that.

  Right after
SoonerCon we seemed to fade off the map, I know. My inboxes are full of
complaints and questions.  We cancelled
all events for July because two of our staff were in a devastating pickup wreck
that left them unable to attend shows. Bryan (pokerface) is still in the
hospital and Evan (E.V.) can’t move part of his face. They don’t know if he will
regain the use of his expressions. I don’t want to say too much that would make
them feel uncomfortable, but you can send cards and letters through me if you
want to wish them well. I will make sure they get everything.

  Finally, just
a few days ago we wrapped up our trip to Twicon where we attended-yep, you
guessed it-another ball. The Volturi Masquerade Ball.
We have spent a lot of time attending balls this year.
I don’t know what it is with us and
balls. The thing is…we still have three balls left to attend this year, two that
we sponsor.

  The main thing
that I want to mention right now is the upcoming release of DFSM in print. Our
first issue is scheduled for October first and the deadline for submitting your
content is September 1st. It’s not too late for you to send us your
work to be published. Now remember, DFSM is a volunteer effort and you won’t
make any money but you will receive lots of love and kisses. The sort of thing
we are looking for is music reviews; please try to include a picture of the band
that you have permission to use or a high quality album cover picture. The bands
DO NOT need to be signed or even famous.  If
you can tell us why you love them that is all we care about, even if it is your
Cousin Pete’s band from 1976. The same thing goes for movie reviews, dvd
releases, event dates, show reviews, interviews. I can’t promise we will have
room for everything, but we would like to give you this chance to get the word
out about something that interests you.  It
can even be your own project.

  You can submit
content to us via duvy.dfsm@gmail.com
or through MySpace
http://www.myspace.com/darkfaerysubculture
. We have a much slower snail mail
address

Darkfaery Subculture Magazine

517 NW 95th ST

Oklahoma City, OK 73114

But if you want in that first issue you should consider
timeframe. We do have some ad space left, full color, glossy ad space. You can
choose from quarter page, half page, or full page, depending on the quality of
your graphic. We can also make you a full color high res ad if you don’t have an
artist who does this for you. We are pretty reasonable, but every dime we make
goes into the magazine.  It’s not
cheap traveling around sponsoring events. We do take donations and sponsors.

  So for now,
let me move on to the next event we sponsor. Beautifully Bound.

I’m a costume designer operating out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. I work for the local ballet, university theatre departments, for independent and student films, and for individuals. I specialize in things exotic or unusual including faire garb, chain and scale armor, leatherwork, cosplay (especially jrock cosplay), and other things as well. I’m a fan of visual kei, jrock, jgoth, and any of the music, videos, and clothing associated with that unique art form. In my spare time I dance, sing and cosplay Gackt from Malice Mizer and Sakito from Nightmare. I’m currently working on American Theater Company’s production of the Rocky Horror Show. I’ve got a website now. It’s still under construction, but if you’d like to see more of what I’m working on you should check it out.—–

Darkfaery Subculture Magazine
Darkfa ery Subculture Magazine has been an underground alternative source for music, costume, and art enthusiasts since it launched as ‘dark zine’ on the streets of Dallas, Texas in 1985. It has since undergone several transformations since moving to Oklahoma City from the paper zine known as The Vampire.s Playground in 1993 to the diskette compuzine of the same name, until finally it reached a large enough fan base to become Darkfaery Subculture Magazine Online in 1997.Through the years it has been DFSM’s mission to bring together the underground music, art, and fashion scenes who have, in the past, tried to remain exclusive and reclusive unto themselves. DFSM is committed to stamping out pretension among the genres so that fans and industry professionals can come together to create something memorable, and darkly beautiful, for years to come.DFSM reflects a unique lifestyle which both its readers and publishers strive to be a part of. Featuring and attending local events, conventions, and faires, DFSM continues to transcend the labels and prejudices placed upon the freakish, interesting, weird world upon which we live.

Darkfaery girls are girls from Oklahoma that showcase their beauty and show the world that Goth/Alternative/Rockabilly/Emo girls can be beautiful too. They don’t like to conform to what the overall society consider to be beautiful. They promote for Darkfaery Subculture Magazine, an online magazine that keeps the “Alternative” crowds in the know of special events and news that they would be interested in. Also please bear with us. This is a new site and we are just learning how to run it. We are sure that this will be an exciting experience for us and our girls. The Darkfaery Boys are alternative guys with their own way of thinking. I am a male illusionist based out of Atlanta, GA, who has been gracing the stage with my GQ charm, suave dance moves, and the ability to work the stage since 2000. In the seven years of being an entertainer, I have learned so much, opening my eyes and mind to a whole new level, and as my career progresses, my eyes and mind continue to see and learn more. Some of my accomplishments include receiving the Southern Voice Best Drag King of Atlanta Award in 2003, 2004, and currently 2007. Thank you, Atlanta! My performances consist of a wide variety of styles and genres which include everything from hip-hop/r&b to mainstream pop, reggaeton/latin styles to alternative rock and beyond. Musical artists that I try to emmulate through my dance include Justin Timberlake, Usher, Ne-Yo, Elvis Presley, and Michael and Janet Jackson. No matter what it is I do on stage, I strongly believe in a high-energy show that keeps the audience wanting more in the end.

Ponygirl Trikkeh
Happily owned by Mistress Kina! I am mainly just a ponygirl but I do have some other interests. My pony side is very energetic, a workaholic, and can be extremely hard to handle if I get too far into my headspace. (Think wound up racehorse? Though I do consider myself an Oldenburg, but whatever. :P ) My favorite activity is being a jumping pony, as I have cleared up to a 3′11 fence and usually won’t stop until I’m forced too. I thoroughly enjoy having my jumping skills pushed to the limit! I am also trained under saddle and to pull a cart.~Videos of me/with me in them~http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgRq08gEzMU&eurl=http://lj-toys.co m/?journalid=687735&moduleid=3&preview=&auth_token=sessionless:1234252 800:embedcontent:http://kanal5.se/web/guest/webbtv/-/k5videoplayer/pla ylist-name/Outsiders

Toxic Goddesses
Toxic Goddess is part modeling troupe, part art movement, and part cultural phenomenon. When founders Dirk Hooper and Robert Henry conceived of this concept in 2004, there was no way we could predict where this would go, and there still isn’t. We’ve achieved a lot in a short amount of time, and with your support we will continue to grow, to rattle all the right people and to create some exceptionally unique (and sexy) artwork. The Toxic Goddess models are not only beautiful, but creative in their own right. They are models who have earned their place in this group by being consistently exceptional in spirit and execution. They are intimately involved with the ideas behind shoots and are business partners. These models are not girls or chicks, they are Goddesses, in every sense of the word.

That wraps up DFSM for now, I will be back soon to fill you in on all of our
events for the rest of the year. See you soon!
