Sex Pistols Reunite for One-Time Concert

LONDON — The Sex Pistols are reuniting for a concert to mark the 30th anniversary of their only album, “Never Mind the Bollocks.” All four original members — John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock — will play a one-time concert at London’s Brixton Academy on Nov. 8, the band announced Tuesday on the music Web site http://www.nme.com.

The punk pioneers, who once sang there was “No Future,” split in 1978 but reformed in 1996 and played together again in 2003. Last year they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Led by sneering frontman Lydon — then known as Johnny Rotten — the Pistols shocked many Britons with raucous singles including “God Save the Queen,” “Anarchy in the U.K.” and “Pretty Vacant.” Released in 1977, “Never Mind the Bollocks” is now regarded as one of the most influential albums in rock history. It will be rereleased to mark the anniversary. Bassist Sid Vicious, who replaced Matlock during the band’s period of greatest notoriety and became a punk icon, died of a drug overdose in 1979.

What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People

  • Combichrist On iTunes Chart!!!
Combichrist’s newest album, What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People, debuted on iTunes electronic charts at lucky #13 for the week of March 5th, 2007!
  • MSI vs. iTunes!!!
NYC electro-punk outfit Mindless Self Indulgence has been asked by iTunes to change the genre that they are filed under. Presently MSI is filed under ‘religious’ because of their devout fan base and cult-like following (currently having shipped 180,000 CD’s in the last year alone). Apparently this has angered some Christian organizations who have filed complaints with the digital music giant to get the band’s music removed from that category. Several Christians appear to have purchased the seemingly offensive material, on faith, even though it clearly was marked as being explicit material. Part of what seemed to annoy them was how well MSI’s album, You’ll Rebel To Anything, did reaching #27 on the iTunes Christian/gospel charts! When asked what he thought of this controversy, MSI’s singer, Jimmy Urine had this to say… “It was iTunes, not us, that interpreted “religious” to mean Christian. What is offensive to some people is obviously inspirational to others. To our fans this IS inspirational music. I have no intention of changing the genre listing of this album.”
  • 16Volt signs to Metropolis!!!
Metropolis Records is pleased to announce that they have signed 16Volt for the world. The band is currently in the studio working on their follow-up to SuperCoolNothing titled FullBlackHabit. Production on the new album will be done by Eric Powell, and Bill Kennedy (Filter, NIN, Megadeath, Sepultura) has signed on to do the final mix. Jordan Nogood, who designed the LetDownCrush cover, has been tagged to do the artwork, and guest appearances will be made by Paul Raven (Killing Joke, Ministry, Prong), Steve Pig (KMFDM), Bildeaux (Necrofix, OHN), Kraig Tyler (Chemlab, Virus23), Jason Bazinet (SMP) and Scott Robison. 16Volt and Metropolis are hoping for a possible May release date for FullBlackHabit followed by a full summer tour.
  • MSI In Top Ten!!!
Billboard’s top 10 singles chart for 2006 lists Mindless Self Indulgence’s Straight To Video: The Remixes as the #7 single for 2006!
  • London After Midnight Returns!!!
Sean Brennan is currently in the studio working on his long awaited London After Midnight album, Violent Acts Of Beauty. The release is currently in the pre-production phase, and reflects alot of the social and political aspects that have always been present in LAM. Some of the proposed song titles include: “Feeling Fascist?,” “The Kids Are All Wrong,” “Fear,” “Nothing’s Sacred,” “The Pain Looks Good On You,” and “America’s Fucking Disease.” No release date is known other than it will be out in 2007. Check back for more updates.
  • Metropolis Ringtones!!!
Metropolis is pleased to announce that ringtones will be available for select artists from most major carriers starting November 15th, 2006. We will be adding more and more ringtones as time progresses. Check out our ringtones section for more information.
  • Cesium_137 Hard At Work On New Album!!!
Cesium_137 are currently in the thick of producing another full length album due out in 2007. While still maintaining their electronic body music roots, the duo has continued to embrace other electronic dance music genres in order to forge a fresh sound and keep the dancefloors busy.
Vince and Isaac are currently working in the studio with accomplished electronic musician and producer Paul J. Geissinger for the vocal production elements of their new compositions. Mr.Geissinger is also known as the grime producer/musician Starkey. You can check out Paul’s work at pauljgeissinger.com for his full story.
On the production tip, the main mix studio for Cesium_137 (Subversive Sound) has gone through a few drastic changes so that the production of this album is approached in a fresh and innovative (analog) way while opening up new avenues of aural manipulation. The evolution of this new sound will focus on the group’s classical music tendencies as well as their rampant technophilia while keeping their anthems driving.
