Spamming is considered to be multiple posts regarding the one website in order to attract traffic there for a personal gain. If you are a band you may post your band sites as much as you wish. We will accept links to sites that fit our guidelines, but this must not be abused. Please do not spam our shoutbox or comments one post is enough. We are able to ban users that are spamming to much!

Linking to malicious programs, pornography,etc. will not be tolerated at all, post them and be banned! 

Copyright
No images, avatars, signatures which are under copyright should be used unless you make quite clear who the copyright belongs to and that you are allowed to use the image for social purposes.

Adult Content
Images of nudity, real or not may be used, but only if they are portrayed in a non sexual way. Examples of images not allowed are those specifically of Male and Female genetalia, or two people engaging in any form of sexual activity. I alone have the final say on whether an image breaks these rules!

Aggressive Behavior
Aggressive behavior towards members or staff will not be tolerated. Where a member is found to be bullying or threatening another member they will have their account locked and/or banned. Telling someone off is not considered aggressive behavior if the fucker in question starts it. Don’t be a fucker, the Faery king doesn’t like it.

DFSM Exclusive audio interview with VNV Nation in Oklahoma City

We were lucky enough to be able to interview Ronan at their first show in oklahoma city, which was probably one of the greatest moments of my life. Meeting Robert Smith is really the only other thing that I can compare it too on my life chart. We are having a little trouble with the video part of the interview so it might be a few days before I can post that, still in the mean time you can enjoy the audio format. I had a wonderful time at the show and VNV Nation are one of the coolest bands to see live. Ronan Harris is a very engaging, enigmatic performer and he encourages both the fans and his fellow band members to participate in the show. After almost dying this year, I was so glad to get out of the house and do something that kept me from dwelling on my illness, and if you haven’t seen VNV Nation live you need to go out there and find a show near you!

Internet did not only change the daily habits but also the way people do their shop. And more than that: Internet has also increased the space to commit piracy.

Music is a good example of how Internet can contribute to piracy. With all this revolution regarding in the means of communication, more and more files or software are available and can be downloaded. Music is one of these files.

The most common music format is MP3, which is the short for MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3. These are files of music found in a compression version but which keeps the original quality. These files are highly searched through Internet.

With this option of downloading music and creating your own CD, composers and music bands started to claim for their copyrights and royalties. This arouse another question: how to protect the bands and composers?

The exit found was to create laws to protect them. These laws presuppose that both websites that offer free MP3 downloads without the permission of the owners of the copyrights and also websites that offer paid downloads should be punished. In this case, the owners of those websites that don’t respect these laws are sued.

But of course it’s not every website on the Internet that breaks the law. There are websites that offer both free and paid MP3 download without breaking the law and respecting the composers’ or music bands’ copyrights.

And something that people are usually not aware of is that downloading a MP3 without the previous consent of the owner of this music you may also be sued. It doesn’t matter that you just downloaded it. It works like this: these websites only exist because people download their MP3, so if you stop downloading it the website will disappear. Then, you are considered to be accomplice of the website’s owner.

There are, however, some legal ways for you to download MP3, both free and paid.

In the realm of MP3 players, Apple (producer of Macintosh computers and related technology) is the definite dominator when it comes to having the most highly-purchased products among the other manufacturers. One of the main reasons for this – simple as it may seem – is basically out of customer loyalty to the originator of this portable audio device. It was the first of its kind on the market and still remains today, the brand of choice. Apple actually released the iPod in 2001 as a portable audio device that was strictly compatible with Macintosh technology.

Working in unison with Apple’s iTunes, Mac users were able to create, maintain and utilize countless numbers of sound files in their music and audio libraries. However, due the growing popularity among its customers, many Windows users were feeling left out and wanted to be able to take advantage of this great new way of listening to and downloading music and other audio as well. So, in 2002, Apple produced a new form of iPod that was compatible with both Macintosh and Windows interfaces. And later in 2003, they gave the Window’s world a compatible version of iTunes as well. This made the audio playing and storing consumer market very happy.

Then eventually, other companies like Sony and Samsung began producing MP3 players as well but have never reached the level of success that Apple has with their iPods. And moreover, it doesn’t look like those competitors ever will. Statistics show that Apple and their iPod actually dominate the MP3 player market with a 70% selling advantage over other manufacturers of these types of portable MP3 audio devices. And when it comes to hard-drive based MP3 players, they’ve got a whopping 90% lead over the competition.

The main reasons consumers complain about the non-Apple brands of MP3 players is that not only are the competitor versions too expensive, but they are strongly lacking in form. They just don’t have the ease of operation in terms of user-interfacing and also don’t include a lot of the convenient and ‘cool’ features that the Apple iPod does either. Generally speaking, the iPod emphatically outperforms the other manufacture’s brands of portable audio devices by a mile (or more). And with the addition of Intel into the Apple product line as a whole, the iPod is only going to continue to be improved upon causing it not only to remain the favorite, but also further expand its appeal throughout the music-loving universe.
