Queen of Hearts Halloween Costumes - Ideas For Halloween 2008
By Harley Hamilton
Do you remember what you wore on last Halloween? How much time did you use to think up the brilliant idea? It must take a very long time and it must be hard. But I can say that is already more interesting than the past. People used to only wear scary Halloween costumes and they hardly came up with creative ideas.
Nowadays you can put on everything you like. You can look traditionally terrible. You can become famous characters such as wearing Queen of Hearts Halloween costumes. You can be anyone you want. I am going to give your more and more ideas.
Before helping you think up an idea, I would like to share one thing with you. Along with the development of technology, you no longer need to enter a store to choose your Halloween costumes. You can now buy it through online costumes stores. Most of them provide lots of choices for you.
For example, if you are searching for Queen of Hearts Halloween costumes, you may have at least 12 kinds of costumes on any online costumes stores. So I strongly suggest you buying online.
As I said before it is not a must for you to dress up like ghosts or vampires anymore (of course you can if you want.). You can be sexy, beautiful or charming. Put on Queen of Hearts Halloween costumes and loudly say off with your head or become Ironman to protect your lovers. It greatly depends on your mind. The more creative you are, the more fun you will have.
It may not be movie or story characters. You can dress up like people in different career. A waiter or a doctor will be good ideas. You may even buy a school uniform and it must help you recall lots of wonderful memories. I personally am going to dress up like a prisoner in this year because I do not think I will become a real prisoner in future.
You may also become celebrities. It is the simplest way because it does not require many accessories. You can just buy a mask or a wig. Can you imagine you become Brad Pitt and everyone ask you for signature? It must be amazing.
Do not worry that you will be foolish. Everyone is going to be foolish on Halloween. They just want to enjoy a wonderful Halloween. That is time for you to make your dream come true. Can you think of any other festivals that you can wear pirate costumes? You probably cannot. So grab this chance. Use you imagination and try to become unique on Halloween. You will have an unforgettable experience.
I do not know which kind of costumes you are going to wear. But if you want to buy Queen of Hearts Halloween costumes, I have an idea for you. You may find lots of choices on Queen of Hearts Halloween Costumes 2008
Paint a Halloween Pumpkin
By Steve Kettle
This year, why not paint a Halloween pumpkin? A painted pumpkin will outlast a carved jack-o-lantern by months and can even be repainted for use as a Thanksgiving decoration. With a little imagination, painting pumpkin faces will become a real family treat.
My wife and I stumbled upon these pumpkin painting ideas quite by accident. A couple of years ago we had the grand kids here in late September. On a whim, we decided to visit a local pumpkin patch and let them pick out a couple of pumpkins to carve for Halloween. The patch had a little stand set up with various fruits and vegetables for sale, along with a nice supply of jams, jellies and preserves. I think that is the main reason my wife wanted to go there! Displayed prominently along the back wall of the fruit stand were several of the cutest painted pumpkins we had ever seen. I told my wife we had better price a couple of them on the way out.
After picking out a few nice sized carving pumpkins we headed back to the stand and were knocked off our feet when the clerk told us the prices for the painted pumpkins. There was nothing less than $40! Most were $50 and up!
That got my creative juices flowing. Our smallest granddaughter had fallen in love with one of the painted faces and I just would not let her down. As soon as we got home I went straight to the internet and was surprised to find relatively few listings for pumpkin painting.
Next was a trip to the library with the same miserable results. I knew there had to be a source for pumpkin painting patterns and ideas, but where was it hidden. Back on the internet I finally stumbled a cross one neat little ebook that included a list of all the necessary paints and patterns I would need. I bought it and had it downloaded and printed within a few minutes. A quick trip to the hardware store for supplies was followed by about an hour of intense artistic endeavor.
You should have seen the look on my grand kid’s faces when I came out of the garage with my first masterpiece! What would have cost over $50 at the pumpkin patch I had slapped together for less than $15. The best part is that I had plenty of paint left over for more pumpkins.
These painted goblins have become quite popular in our neighborhood. Each year, as soon as I begin putting them out for decorations, my phone and doorbell start ringing with requests. It has really become a very profitable hobby.
You do not have to be an expert artist to create some creative spooks and goblins. A little paint and some simple instruction is all you need to paint a Halloween pumpkin.
This year you can be the talk of the town if you learn how to Paint A Halloween Pumpkin. It is EASY and FUN for the entire family. Check out the guide to Pumpkin Painting now!
Our big day is almost here. TrickConTreat 2008 opens the doors to the Halloween season at noon on Friday, October 3rd.
We’ve expanded the convention to a full weekend, and packed it full of ghoulish goodness. 2008 is our Tribute to “B” Movies, which includes screenings of classic “B” movies and new films, with featured viewings hosted by local and regional filmmakers. Friday night at midnight, TrickConTreat and IAO Gallery bring you the greatest “B” movie of them all, the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
This is also the inaugural year of the FlickConTreat Movie Maker’s Race. Filmmaking teams will receive a line of dialog, a prop, and a theme on Friday afternoon, and will film, edit, and show their new film at the convention. If you’ve ever wanted to make a movie for a film festival, this is your chance. The only cost of entry is a weekend membership.
Friday evening you’ll have plenty of choices for things to do, with another Ghost Tour hosted by the OKC Ghost Club and PROS Investigations or a Halloween Hafla hosted by Actively Hostile Enterprises and Banmala Tribal Fusion Dance Company. You can also join the SoonerCon crew in the ConSuite for snacks and spookies.
We’re not even to Saturday!
Starting early Saturday morning, you can find programming on makeup, costuming, music, film, and Gothic goodness. From 9am to 11am, drag out your old decorations for our Halloween Swap Meet. Trade out those old decorations for something a little different.
Oklahoma’s First Hearse and ShockRod Show starts at 1pm in the parking lot, with live music from the Decomposed, Subcity Vamp, Spector 45, Pulpit Red, the RazorBlade Dolls, God in a Machine, and Pittersplatter. There will also be sideshow performances from Carnival of Cleavage and Dell Deadgirl, and an appearance by the Oklahoma Victory Dolls roller derby.
That evening, you check out the art auction and storytelling with Tremblewick before you run off to get ready for the Haunticon Ball, hosted by Darkfaery Subculture Magazine. They will be filming for the Darkfaery Network, so dress to impress.
If the big party isn’t your thing, we’ll be judging for our room party contest Saturday evening, so reserve your room, get out those newly traded decorations and host your own. Winning parties receive 4 weekend memberships to TrickConTreat 2009 and other.
Think Sunday is a boring day at conventions? We’ll change your mind with advanced makeup workshops, digital 3D FX demos, a charity auction to benefit the Bella Foundation, more bands in the afternoon, more films, more bellydancers, and lots of other Halloween goodness to keep you around “just a little longer.”
Don’t miss out! You can get your membership for $30 until Oct. 1st. You can pay online (http://trickcontreat.com/memberships.html) or see us next weekend either at the Oklahoma Victory Dolls bout on Saturday, Sept. 27th (http://www.oklahomavictorydolls.com) or at our final staff and crew meeting at the hotel (Holiday Inn North, 6200 N. Tips for attending and surviving TrickConTreat (or any other convention for that matter).
By Duvall “Duvy” Gilchrist-Montgomery
Editor, Artist, Creator of Darkfaery Subculture Magazine
Attending conventions can be a fun and exciting experience, one that will change the way you feel about the things you enjoy. TrickConTreat is especially rare in the fact that it is dedicated to Halloween and the committee has taken care to ensure that it is a spooky, haunting affair.
Conventions, in general, have some of the most devoted attendees and people come from all over the world to attend. From the costumes to favorite celebrities, convention goers are in a different world that they can create and relate to.
You are encouraged to help with the theme of the convention by creating yourself into a character and joining in the fun as a Halloween fan.
Fans may seem like outcasts to a lot of people, but a convention is one place they can be among their own. It doesn’t matter what type of convention you are attending, you are sure to make new friends with the same interests as yourself. A lot of the time it’s a chance to get involved in things you could never imagine or would not be able to achieve on your own.
Do not be afraid to be yourself. This is the most important thing you can do, the person you are on the inside should be free to explore and here you can find new friends and people who share your interests. You should try to be open and friendly. Everyone is potential friend or new fan. Try to stay in the hotel zone close to the convention center. Being close to other convention-goers will help in making new friends.
Please try to leave hate and anger at home; this is counter-productive to the purpose behind a convention and will result in your removal from the hotel. The safety of members and children is the top priority for TrickConTreat security, and if you need help do not hesitate to approach one of our fine security people, they are there to help you and keep everyone safe.
TrickConTreat takes place the first weekend of October so you will want to set aside the weekend and plan a couple of extra days off of work. Conventions usually last three to four days, one can be found almost every weekend in some part of the country, and you will need a day to recover after all those things to do and see. Another great thing about TrickConTreat taking place on October 3rd-5th is that you will get to keep your Halloween spirit through the month and enjoy the purchases you make and things you learn to use on the actual night of Halloween.
There are, however, some considerations you might want to make in advance of the convention to make things easier on yourself and everyone else.
Pre-register if you can. You avoid the long lines, and get cheaper prices. Pre-registered members are guaranteed a program book. Weekend members paying at the convention will receive a program book while supplies last. Registration can be a trying experience and if you pre-register you’ll get through it a lot faster. Pre-registration for TrickConTreat ends October 1st, Weekend memberships are $30 until October 1st, 2008. Online registration will not be available after October 1st. Weekend memberships will be $35 at the door. One-day memberships will be available at Registration for $15 each day.
Bring a costume, sometimes two or three. Many conventions have contests for the best costume, but at TrickConTreat you can only win one contest in one costume, change often for more chances to win.
If you are planning many costume changes, get yourself a hotel room, not only will it make your life at the con easier, but you help out the people behind the scene at the convention by letting the hotel know there is interest. This also helps the behind the scenes convention committee plan and afford the convention for the next year. If you do plan on staying in a hotel, team up with people to rent a room. Decide ahead of time whose credit card it’s going on and how much everyone has to pay and who gets the beds. Set up rules of behavior for the room. The room rules are important to your safety and overall fun factor.
TrickConTreat 2008 will be hosted by Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Oklahoma City. The Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Oklahoma City North is located just off Highway I-235 (Broadway Extension) and minutes from I-44, I-40 and I-35. The Oklahoma City Holiday Inn hotel is sited just 5 miles North of Downtown Oklahoma City and Bricktown. Use group code "TCT" for a discount. This also helps the behind the scenes convention committee plan and afford the convention for the next year and makes the hotel smile.
Don’t lose your room key and don’t ask anyone to hold it for you that are not in your party.
I hate to say it, but there are bad seeds in every crowd, convention goers’ aren’t screened or given background checks you never know who you are dealing with, especially when one is in a costume or becoming a character. Keep up with your items, family, and children at all times.
Get some cheap cell phones with extra minutes on it for you and your party in case you get separated. Tracfone is super cheap; around $10 each and you can recycle them later for a few bucks if you don’t need them. Put everyone on speed dial, especially children, even if they don’t understand how to use the phone an adult who finds your lost child will be able to call you easily.
Don't argue with security. No matter what.
Don’t lose your convention badge. No matter what. Otherwise take several pictures of yourself wearing it as soon as you get it and maybe *maybe* the sweet gods of registration will let you live.
Dress in loose fitting clothing so that when you get stuck in a crowd you don’t overheat, think shower and deodorant at least once a day over the course of the weekend, another great reason to get a room. Bring alternate footwear, getting stuck in heels or painful shoes for three days can sometimes ruin everything if you plan to walk from one end of the hotel to another several times.
Use your toothbrush often and don’t forget the mouthwash, close contact breeds bacteria and is just plain gross. We don’t want everyone getting sick and missing out on Halloween night.
Find out if any of your favorite celebrities are appearing. Find out the times they will be available to the public, and bring collectibles they can autograph or be prepared to buy something in the dealer’s room. Be prepared to stand in long lines to meet popular celebrities.
Buy your food and drinks ahead of time. Nothing will make your money disappear faster than buying breakfast at the hotel or eating in nearby restaurants. Con suites, where they offer free snacks and drinks, are good, but they can be time-intensive to get to and you don't want to rely on them because of the long lines and availability.
Bring information on your favorite stories, shows or movies to discuss. Most conventions have discussion panels on a wide variety of topics.Panels are a great way to make new friends and learn about new things, but remember while you are in the panel rooms the convention is still happening around you and it’s easy to lose track of time, keep your program book close by and make notes in it.
If you are attending a panel you know will be popular, get there early.
Study the collectible items available for purchase or up for auction. Bring plenty of money so you can purchase the items that appeal to you. Try not to rely on your credit cards, you can go over budget really quick when you are having a good time and see things you just have to have for your collections. Keep cash on hand, keep a firm hold on your wallet, and count your money often to make sure you are not spending more than you have.
Attend the "dead dog party" after the closing ceremonies. This is often the best way to wind down and to ease your way back into the real world. Trust me, you will find yourself a different person after attending a convention.
And finally, most importantly, have a great Halloween experience and we hope to see you at TrickConTreat!

Four Options For Those Who Want Popular Halloween Costume Ideas
By Mike Edward
What kind of popular costumes should you consider? Here are four different options for those seeking hot Halloween Costumes.
1. Celebrity Costumes
We live in a celebrity-obsessed culture. If you want to find a hot costume, look no further than whoever is gracing the covers of the checkout line magazines. You don’t need to be a dead-ringer for your favorite celebrity to pull this off, either. Hot Halloween costumes are often based on movie characters, for instance. You might not look like the star of your favorite superhero flick, but you can certainly show up in his costume.
2. Political Costumes
The news is on everyone’s mind and that makes political figure costumes a hot pick, too. Plus, there’s nothing we seem to enjoy more than poking fun at our elected officials. You can always find a mask of noted political figures. Combine it with a suit and tie (or a pantsuit for the ladies) and you’re in business. It’s hard to say if anyone can really grow up to be the President, but it’s absolutely true that anyone can look like a leader for one night.
3. Issue Costumes
If you have a pet issue that you’d like to advance, Halloween might be a good time to do it. These costumes can be tough to pull off unless you have a real creative streak, but when they work well, they can be some of the best hot Halloween costumes.
4. Naughty Halloween Costumes
If you want to know what the most popular hot Halloween costumes have been over the past few years, here’s a clue: they often involve short skirts and high heels. Naughty Halloween costumes have been a growing trend. From sexy spins on the classics (think naughty witch) to slightly adult versions of everyday occupations (the sexy construction worker comes to mind), there are literally hundreds of options in this category.
If you’re tired of the classics, this might be the perfect year to don hot Halloween costumes. You have countless choices at your disposal and there’s sure to be something that will work for you.

Two Tips to Set Yourself Apart at Halloween This Year
By Mike Edward
Halloween is all about fun and there’s nothing more fun than showing a little character and originality. Sticking out in the crowd is what it’s all about and the best way to do that is to show up to the festivities in a unique Halloween costume.
If you want to show some originality, avoid your local department stores and Halloween shops. These joints are carrying middle-of-the road stuff. It’s the same gear every year and there’s nothing unique about white face paint and a set of uncomfortable plastic fangs (the fake blood tastes lousy, too).
If you want to do something different, you need to look somewhere different.
Take a big look at all of the different stuff that’s out there for putting together a unique Halloween costume and exercise your creative muscles a little bit at the same time. In the end, you’ll be able to escape the drudgery of showing up in a tired costume. You can finally be the one who really stands out this Halloween!

Safety Tips For Creating Halloween Props and Using Halloween Decorations
By Daryl Plaza
Most people are not aware of the fact that there are dangers of Halloween props. When it comes to trying out your decoration skills and expressing your creativity, Halloween is a great holiday! Many individuals work all year to accumulate props and develop creative ideas on how to design their home, their lawn, and other areas like their sheds for Halloween.
Unfortunately, in most cases, these individuals fail to consider the fact that there can be true dangers associated with the items that they use to decorate with. Here, I will share with you some of the most common dangers of Halloween props when used during this fall holiday.
One of the most common Halloween props is the implementation of “spider webs” in the area that one wants to attract fear. There are web products that are sold in decoration stores as well as department stores that are composed of string, rope, and even wire. Many accidents occur each year when this type of product is placed low enough to catch someone’s foot, or even high enough for the individual to actually run into.
While this type of prop may only leave some minor cuts, scrapes, or bruising, it is all uncomfortable. If falls are experienced, it may result in serious injury. If you are going to put up this type of webbing, set it in an area away from where people will frequent.
The next type of Halloween prop that is relatively common are dark lights, colored lights, and even black lights. At first glance, these appear to be completely safe and innocent types of lighting, but if you use them as the only source of lighting, the area may be so dark that it drastically reduces visibility.
When this occurs, someone may run into something that could harm them, or even fall and experience a number of injuries. If you plan on using this type of lighting, it may be good to use some small powered lights, such as battery operated lanterns that can be included as part of the festive decorations in order to improve visibility.
As you can see, there are a number of dangers that can be associated with Halloween props. While I have only listed a couple of examples here, they are real examples that will get your mind focused on determining the best method of decorating with props this Halloween. Remember to “think outside the box” when it comes to potential dangers while using Halloween props so that you and your guests can enjoy a safe evening this year!

A Halloween Costume Hat to Complete the Outfit
By Dean Forster
Halloween, the most wonderful and exciting time of year. It is a time of year where people become someone or something that they have never been before. Your first grade teacher might have actually transformed into a scary witch or your best friend may seem to be Harry Potter, the options are endless for who you can be. But there is one thing that makes a costume complete. Your outfit must have a Halloween costume hat to be complete. A witch is not a witch without a black pointy hat. A cowboy is nothing without his hat.
Do you have an infant or toddler that you are shopping for a Halloween costume? Keep in mind that toddlers and infants do not like to wear things on their heads. If you get a costume that has something for their head to wear you will not be successful. Either your child will become upset for you forcing them to wear something they do not really like or you will become upset due to the fact that they continue to pull the hat off their head and throw it on the ground. So, keep costumes for infants and toddlers simple. This will make your Halloween experience much more enjoyable.
Perhaps you do not have any children, but you feel that your pet should be able to join in on the fun. You are in luck if this is you! Many animal costumes are available online, at pet stores, and in catalogues. Cats, dogs, horses, birds, and other small animals can have fun this Halloween. Most costumes for dogs slip over their front legs and require a hat to be worn. A Halloween costume hat is a main costume for cats, usually. Birds would look adorable in a cowboy hat or sombrero. You can dress your horses up as unicorns, dragons, or anything you wish.
Cheap costume ideas might consist of a homemade and a store bought Halloween costume hat. Often times you can find great Halloween costume ideas in your parents’ closet. Old clothes are great to dress up in. Bridesmaid dresses and old prom dresses would work great for your teenage daughter who wants to be a princess for Halloween. You would only have to buy a tiara or princess hat for her to make the costume complete. Hats might also include wigs. You can easily make a clown outfit by using old bed sheets, a wig, and a pair of oversized shoes. Halloween doesn’t have to be “scarily” expensive. Just look around the home for costume ideas and you might only have to buy a few accessories to go with it.
When deciding on an outfit you can either think of a costume and then add a Halloween costume hat or find the hat first and add to it. The choice is yours. Let your imagination run wild because Halloween only comes once a year. Let the hat make your costume. Be creative and have fun. Work with your budget and don’t go into debt making your one day fun. Enjoy your Halloween night and be safe.
