Hair Extensions and Synthetic Hair

Hair Extensions and Synthetic Hair
By Andy D Black

Hair extensions are made from one of two materials; real human hair, or synthetic hair. The latter is the cheapest option and is proving fairly popular within the hair extensions industry.

In a nutshell, synthetic hair is basically plastic and will never look as real as human hair. It is however, great for dreadlocks and certain other styles. Synthetic hair is less expensive; however extensions made from human hair tend to give a better result, naturally. Since getting extensions from a salon requires time and money, many people are finding clip-in hair extensions to be the fastest, easiest, and cheapest way to have multiple hair looks, and you don’t have to be a Hollywood “It” girl or movie star. Synthetic hair is more fragile, and should be worn as they come, with little tinkering about or styling. You should NEVER use heat (blow dryers, curling irons, or straighteners) or apply too much styling products to synthetic hair.

Synthetic hair is made from man made materials and can be reproduced with very little variation. It can usually be shaped into styles by using the steam from boiling water to set the hair. Also, synthetic hair colours usually run a shade darker than human hair. Synthetic hair is generally used to for bright, funky fashion colours, such as pinks, greens and blues. Generally speaking, if you are wanting to achieve natural looking hair, then you should opt for 100% human hair extensions.

Synthetic hair is very easy to wear, and requires little maintenance. Unlike human hair the synthetic fibres need minimal or no styling after washing. It is made from materials such as nylon, polyester, kankalon or modacrylic and do not respond well to heat or friction. Synthetic hair is also used for manufacturing wigs, hair pieces and one piece pony tails.

Human hair -Usually of Asian descent, is the most versatile of all the hair types. It is available in a huge variety of colours, lengths and grades. Human hair extensions have the advantage of looking more realistic as part of your own hair but are quite a bit more expensive. This is generally because it has been grown and cut off specifically for this purpose, therefore making it more valuable than synthetic hair. It is then cleaned, and processed ready for sale. Human hair extensions can vary in quality as the hair is categorized into grades. The quality depends on the origin of the hair, and the age of the person it has come from. The cheapest hair generally comes from China and other Asian countries, and is thick and originally very dark, prior to processing and colouring.

European hair is one of the best, because of its light weight, strength, texture and high protein content which gives the hair longevity. Indian human remy hair remains the best grade human hair, with what is referred to as ‘virgin’ hair, being the ultimate in human hair for hair extensions.
It is recommended to see both hair types before proceeding with hair extensions to see what you prefer. It all boils down to one thing at the end of the day, and that is personal preference, so a little bit of thought beforehand would be wise.

Henna hazard

Henna hazard: Chemical causes ornate allergies
Harsh dye can swell popular tattoos into itchy, blistery swirls and shapes
By Melissa Dahl
Health writer

Debbe Geiger has never been one for tattoos. But when her daughter Kim begged to get a henna tattoo on a family vacation to Cancun a few years ago, she thought it couldn’t hurt. After all, it’s only temporary, and Kim would have something to show off to her friends back home.

But just two days later, the tattoo of a cute little bug had swelled into an itchy, bubbling blister on Kim’s upper right arm.

“I was scared to death,” says Geiger, who’s 43 and lives with her family in Cary, N.C. “I thought, she’s 9 years old and she’s going to be scarred for life.”

The American Academy of Dermatology recently issued a warning that a chemical found in black henna tattoos can cause a severe allergic reaction, causing the skin to redden, swell and blister — but only where the henna is applied, leaving people with bubbly blisters in shapes like suns, stars and flowers.

As henna body art has become mainstream in the last few years, often peddled at summer carnivals and concerts, dermatologists report increasingly treating patients, especially teen girls and young women, with these often elaborate looking allergic reactions.

“Just because they’re temporary, people think they’re safe,” says Dr. Sharon E. Jacob, a dermatologist at the University of California, San Diego.
Natural henna vs. black henna
While true henna is made from harmless plants, black henna uses a chemical called para-phenylenediamine, or PPD, which makes the tattoo dry quickly and last longer — and in some cases, that’s much, much longer.

“These skin allergies themselves are not dangerous,” says Dr. Colby Evans, a dermatologist in private practice in Austin, Texas. “But they can cause scarring or darkness to the skin that can be permanent.”

Despite the potential for creating a permanent souvenir from that trip to Mexico, the scarring generally will go away on its own within a few weeks. But it’s almost always odd-looking. This week, the New England Journal of Medicine published Evans’ account of a particularly intense case: A 19-year-old Kuwaiti woman Evans treated after she returned from a wedding, where she had black henna applied to her forearms, hands and fingers. A week later, her swirly, flowery henna was overwritten with a swirly, flowery blister.

Last year, Evans also treated a young man with a similar allergic reaction to henna that took an even more bizarre form: a blister on the back of his neck in the perfect shape of an eagle.

In both cases, Evans prescribed steroid creams to bring the swelling down.

Lifelong allergies to some medications
But Evans and other dermatologists warn that just one bad reaction to black henna can be enough to cause permanent sensitivity to PPD, and that allergy can cross-react with chemical relatives in certain anesthetics and medications for heart disease, hypertension and diabetes.

“The allergy you can develop is lifelong,” says Jacob. But she’s found that people, especially teens, are generally unimpressed by her warnings of reactions to medication, so she reserves this for the kicker: “It may mean you can never dye your hair again.”

While PPD is used in most hair dyes, allergic reactions aren’t very common because it isn’t applied directly to the skin, and in black henna the concentration of PPD is 10 times higher, Jacob estimates. But a PPD sensitivity could cause an allergic reaction after even the slightest contact with the chemical.
Kim Geiger’s blister faded away within a month, and her mom says she hasn’t had any allergic reaction to medication since. But Debbe Geiger often wonders how anyone could ever tell the difference between safe, natural henna and black henna.

“This was a little booth set up at the hotel pool, and I didn’t think anything of it,” she says.

Experts say there are a few easy ways to tell the difference between true henna and black henna. For one, henna is never black — it’s red, which darkens to a brownish color on the skin as it dries. Real henna starts to fade away within a few days, so be wary of a henna tattoo artist who boasts of tattoos that will last any longer than that.

But both mom and daughter Geiger aren’t taking any more chances; they’re staying far away from all things henna. “It looks so harmless,” Debbe Geiger says, “but you have to watch these ingredients they’re using.”

Making Gothic and Punk Cute - Apply Pop Culture Style to Babies & Children

Making Gothic and Punk Cute - Apply Pop Culture Style to Babies & Children
By Sarah Freeland

Many of the current parents of newborns and toddlers are the pop culture generation children all grown up. These individuals were raised in a world of punk rock bands, wild music, and alternative styles. Yet even with the generational gap that exists between today’s parents and yesterdays, the style in children’s clothing has remained the same. For the most part, this is due to the fact that parents are afraid of changing the style at the risk of being called a “bad parent.” How can today’s’ parents express their own style in their children’s manner of dressing?

It’s quite simple really. All you have to do is make the unacceptable, acceptable. Take the edge off. Mix the styles of yesterday and today and create an original and universal new style. Of course, we aren’t referring to dressing a child in one article of clothing from yesteryear and one from current styles. It’s actually far simpler than that. All you have to do is to make Gothic and Punk styles cute.

Start with the two biggest icons of both generations. The pop culture punk main icon was a skull. The icon of your parent’s generation was a heart. Now, mix the two by creating a skull with hearts for eyes. Voila, instant cross-generational style. Even your grandparents will have to admit that this is cute.

Another popular style of your generation is black t-shirts. Your parent’s generation was cute logos. Again, mix the two. For example, take a black toddler t-shirt and put the slogan, “Mommy has got my back,” on it. How much cuter can you get than that? Creating the new style of inter-generational clothing is easier than most think. Some companies have already instituted this new style of baby clothes and can be found with a simple Internet search.

Shopping for baby apparel & kids clothing? The baby clothing industry today is vast and caters to every taste. Add style to your baby with a designer t-shirt, a hat with a catchy phrase or a unique diaper bag. We carry black baby onesies, rock n roll children’s t-shirts & punk baby clothing.

Understand the Trend of Cosplay Costume in International Market

Understand the Trend of Cosplay Costume in International Market
By Dave Page

Cosplay costumes are of Japan origin. These costumes are also designed by some of the international counties like USA, UK AND CANADA. These designs are entirely different in appearance and culture of japan. Some of the Cosplay models which are popular in these countries are star trek, science fiction characters like aliens, start wars etc. most of the popular costumes which are popular in Japan like Nazi are not of much use in international market.

Though the origin of Cosplay costumes began from Japan, the trend has become popular in western countries. With the introduction of Anime characters Cosplay has spread wide deep into the western culture.

There is one issue which is vital while designing anime and manga characters. These characters do not have bodily proportions which can be easily mimicked by Cosplayers. That is they don’t have incredibily long legs, muscles of high power etc. these is one of the important elements that has to be considred by most of the cos players.

In Mexico Cosplay is commonly seen in conventions like videogames and science fiction. Cosplayers organize their own re unions in order to make the themes free and also to take the pictures together. Cosplay is competitive in Mexico it is at a healthy level, because of well establishes representatives.

In Australia the costumres are selected from sources other than manga and anime. The costumes are mainly selected from American popular video games, fictions fantasy movies, tv shows, novels etc. The source of their interest is from an area which provides good graphic inspiration of a character and which gives importance to its costume.

In Australia Cosplay is seen in major popular cities and major regional centers. In Australia the display of costumes is not limited to conventions, but most of the small social grouping exist who conduct local events for Cosplayers.

In france Cosplay is a wide spread activity and uses most of the anime and manga conventions. Most of the Cosplayers here choose only manga and anime as ideal for their work. Most of the people like dressing of animations famous singers and TV shows. Un like Japan, French costumes are hand made costumes. They are used only on few occasions. French Cosplayers mainly focus on Cosplay contests. These contests are carried out on various conventions like manga, fantasy role playing and science fiction. Here buying or re using of Cosplay costumes is said to be an unfair act.

In Belgium Cosplay costumes have a wide use they use different dressed anime series.

Now Cosplay is entering into Philippines where Cosplay events are held in anime, manga gaming and scientific fiction.

With the evolving role of Cosplay costumes most of the anime characters of Japan are increasing their role all over the world. With high demand and efficient design strategies Cosplay costumes are serving the needs of many people all over the world.

There are many idols of Cosplay which grabbed more attention. All animated movies and graphical movies have gained much popularity in market through Cosplay costumes.

What Is Cosplay?

What Is Cosplay?
By Henry Hsieh

There’s no denying that anime characters are incredibly cute, beautiful, and handsome. Disproportional their facial features and body builds may be, they’re still magnificently good looking. In fact, it’s probably these imperfections that turn them into such good looking things. There are even times when they’re even more perfected than people both in their physique and face. And because of this, they often become objects of our adoration. And since imitation is the best form of flattery, there are people who just love to imitate anime characters… even going so far as to dress up as one. Dressing up as an anime character is what we call cosplaying.

However, you can’t just cosplay any time you want because people would think you were crazy. There’s a time and place for everything and for cosplaying; in the US it’s usually done during an anime convention while in Japan there are pockets of people that does them regularly in various cities or special cosplay cafes.

The Costumes

As you probably noticed, anime characters are usually clothed with very weird outfits. They sometimes wear clothes that are virtually impossible to be made in real life; after all, they can afford this since they’re simply ink on paper. This poses as a primary challenge for all cosplayers. But somehow, people are resourceful and they can always manage. Even the most complex of costumes can be duplicated by the means of some cardboard and some fabrics. Some cosplayers are so good that they’ve even managed to dress up as a real human robot from ‘transformers’ and is able to transform from a robot to a car. That must have taken a lot of time, effort, and brains.

Some of the more popular subjects for cosplay are the Naruto as well as the Naruto Shippuden characters. In every cosplay convention, there will always be people dressing up as the Naruto characters, even the minor ones. There’s an especially large number of Akatsuki Cosplayers because those black cloaks with red clouds are incredibly easy to make and to wear.

The Look

The costumes are a breeze as compared to emulating an anime character’s look. You’re lucky if the one you’re cospaying as looks like a normal human being. But try copying those anime characters that have out of this world hair and inhuman skin! Just imagine trying to cosplay as Freeza or Cell from Dragon Ball Z! The anime look is incredibly hard to pull off.

And to top it all off, you need to be relatively good looking yourself if you don’t want to be a laughing stock. It also helps if you’re of Asian descent because Asians are naturally better at cosplaying anime characters, even those anime characters who are supposed to be European.

The Attitude

Emulating a characters attitude is a huge plus when you’re in an anime convention. It adds to the overall feel if you’ve adopt the attitude of the character you’re cosplaying as well. Imagine cosplaying as Sasuke and acting like Naruto! That would be totally inappropriate. Just never take the assimilation of the character’s attitude too far or else you might just end up scaring people.

During cosplays, those who are able to emulate a character as accurate as possible are usually lauded with awards and praises. And there are several people who go to cosplays just to have their picture taken with other cosplayers, surprisingly? To the most of us yes it is, but then that’s the world of cosplaying.

Henry Hsieh has multiple interests and he enjoys talking about them. As a fan of anime, he likes to watch Naruto, discuss them in Naruto Forums, and listen to Naruto MP3 at tailedfox.com the best Naruto site with the newest Naruto Episodes of Naruto Shippuden out first.

Corset Designers

Corset Designers
By Jennifer Bailey

A corset is a closefitting garment that gives the wearer an alluring hourglass shape. It flatters the figure by accentuating the curves. Corsets are usually made with steel boning to create an hourglass fit. During the earlier days, corsets were made with whalebone to provide the strength and flexibility to the garments. Today, the popularity of corsets and the changing fashions have brought in an array of designs and improvisations. One can buy corsets in a wide range of fabrics such as satin, silk, velvet, brocade and leather.

Many fashion designers have included corsets in their repertoire. Corset designers design corsets in many styles choosing from a variety of materials and colors. They source their fabrics from quality suppliers and create beautiful and elegant corsets. Corset designers continue to make corsets that give women the look of an hourglass figure together with the back support that a traditional corset gives. Corsets, especially leather corsets have become very popular. Corset designers design beautiful authentic leather corsets that give women an exotic look and allure.

Designers construct corsets using flexible materials and stiffen it with boning. Boning also known as ribs or stays is inserted into channels in the fabric. Nowadays, steel and plastic are commonly used for boning corsets. Designers use steel for creating high quality corsets. They also use ivory, wood and cane for boning.

Corset designers specialize in a wide array of sophisticated, fine looking corsets including traditional and modern corsetry. Designers also make custom designed corsets that are used as prom dresses, wedding gowns, ballroom dresses, and party wear and for other special occasions. Corset designers have given corsets new dimensions. Designers create innovative corsets recreating and translating the traditional Victorian original into casual daywear garments. Today corsets can be worn over a garment or pulled over like a jumper. Designers create the shape of the corset in suits, dresses and shirts too.

Whatever evolution the corset might undergo, they will continue to hold women’s fascination and inspire the designers of tomorrow.

Corsetry - The Evolution of Their Sex Appeal

Corsetry - The Evolution of Their Sex Appeal
By Amanda Cotterill

Corsetry has come a long way since the Dark Ages. It’s not just the lack of scientific knowledge that made those times dark. Those were also dark days for womens underwear. Back then, corsetry was extremely constrictive, even potentially dangerous.

It’s no surprise that the word corset is derived from “corp,” the French word for body. After all, corsets are all about molding a woman’s body.

In the past, corsets had an extreme effect on a woman’s shape. For example, “tightlacing” was once a popular and common trend. Tightlacing is the process of wearing an extremely tightly-laced corset for long periods of time. The goal is to actually achieve a permanent reduction in waist size.

Lucky for us, womens underwear has shifted focus to comfort as well as seduction. Sometimes, though, you’ll still see tightlacing in Gothic-style sexy womens underwear.

The times changed and so did corsets. Now corsets are considered sexy underwear. They’re often worn more for sex appeal than for figure-forming purposes. In fact, many of today’s corsets don’t have any effect on the appearance of the wearer’s figure. They belong purely to the family of sexy womens underwear.

We women haven’t completely abandoned the figure-forming corset. Corsets are still popular womens underwear, several hundred years after their invention, because they can give you an hour glass figure. A full bust, trim waist, and curvaceous hips have long been considered the ideal body shape for a woman.

We feel sexy when we know that we look great. We’re not always 100% satisfied with the “assets” natured endowed us with. The right womens sexy underwear has the power to change that. Sexy underwear can be subtly functional. Your special someone will only know that you look fantastic. They’ll never suspect the transforming powers of the corset!

Part of the evolution of corsets has come in the form of color and styles. No more plain Jane white cotton and whale boning. Now you can find corsets in every color under the sun. Plus, they came in all your favorite fabric. If you’re in the market for the soft luxurious feel of womens silk underwear, there are corsets ready to please. You might not immediately think of corsets when you’re shopping for womens silk underwear. But you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the number of options available. It’s a fun departure from the normal satin slips.

Corsets are a step up from your typical womens sexy underwear. They’re not as easy to come across as nighties and babydolls. That is, you won’t readily find them on the racks of your local department store. Corsets are ideal for special occasions because your significant other will be completely surprised.

Corsets are also an important part of the world of fetish wear. In the nineties, fetish wear became a popular way to indulge in fantasies and walk on the wild side. The waist cincher in particular is a top choice in fetish wear. As the name suggests, it severely cinches the waist for an exaggerated hour glass effect.

Women have come a long way since the oppression of the 1300s. And the corset has come along with us. No longer restrictive like women’s lives in the Dark Ages, corsets now reflect a woman’s ability to express her sexuality.

Amanda Cotterill has been involved in the see through lingerie market for many years.
