Making Gothic and Punk Cute – Apply Pop Culture Style to Babies & Children By Sarah Freeland Many of the current parents of newborns and toddlers are the pop culture generation children all grown up. These individuals were raised in a world of punk rock bands, wild music, and alternative styles. Yet even with the generational gap that exists between today’s parents and yesterdays, the style in children’s clothing has remained the same. For the most part, this is due to the fact that parents are afraid of changing the style at the risk of being called a “bad parent.” How can today’s’ parents express their own style in their children’s manner of dressing? It’s quite simple really. All you have to do is make the unacceptable, acceptable. Take the edge off. Mix the styles of yesterday and today and create an original and universal new style. Of course, we aren’t referring to dressing a child in one article of clothing from yesteryear and one from current styles. It’s actually far simpler than that. All you have to do is to make Gothic and Punk styles cute. Start with the two biggest icons of both generations. The pop culture punk main icon was a skull. The icon of your parent’s generation was a heart. Now, mix the two by creating a skull with hearts for eyes. Voila, instant cross-generational style. Even your grandparents will have to admit that this is cute. Another popular style of your generation is black t-shirts. Your parent’s generation was cute logos. Again, mix the two. For example, take a black toddler t-shirt and put the slogan, “Mommy has got my back,” on it. How much cuter can you get than that? Creating the new style of inter-generational clothing is easier than most think. Some companies have already instituted this new style of baby clothes and can be found with a simple Internet search. Shopping for baby apparel & kids clothing? The baby clothing industry today is vast and caters to every taste. Add style to your baby with a designer t-shirt, a hat with a catchy phrase or a unique diaper bag. We carry black baby onesies, rock n roll children’s t-shirts & punk baby clothing.
